Things have really died here.  I thought I'd stir it up a bit.  Here are pics of the chicks I got from Celtic Oaks.  Can't wait to see how they change with their yearly molt.

Girl # 1

WP_000062.jpg

Girls # 2 & 3 Split Blacks  They were bigger but the boys caught up fast

WP_000072.jpg

Boy # 1  The Runt had no neck feathers but filled out nicely.

WP_000069.jpg

Boy #2  My mutt roo doesn't like him therefore the ruffled feathers

WP_000066.jpg

Boy # 3  The biggest. and the lightest colored.  Roo doesn't like him either.

Also it was raining and trying to get them to stay in the isle was not easy.

Was that chicks head bald? Just asking for a reason.

Fuzzy they are looking very nice. It will be fun to see how they molt out. Hope they give lots of lovely blue eggs and beautiful chicks.

Hi Elaine, welcome to the group.

The storm this afternoon caught me by surprise, so the goslings were still outside.  The lightning was so bad I didn't bring them in.  When I went outside after the storm they came running.  It was the first time they have ever wanted to go to bed.  It was the first Florida thunderstorm they have had to face in the open, and l am sure it won't be the last.  I don't know where they rode out the storm, but they were busy eating grass when I came out. Love having waterfowl in Florida. Our weather doesn't seem to faze them.  If this weekend is as bad as they predict, all our poultry will be waterfowl.

I have a horrible time trying to keep feed dry in this driving rain.  Does anyone have a trick so that the chickens don't end up having to eat soup?  Morning feeding doesn't seem to be a problem, but the evening feed seems to come at the same time as the thunderstorms.  Hate to send them to bed with an empty crop.
