I like it, except when I am under a tin roof with them and all of them are screeching.

I used to have guineas and I loved the sound. I miss it.
The only time it was annoying was when I would try to have a conversation in the yard and couldn't.

I like it!
They are so much louder than any of our chickens, but I like the noise they make. And they make noise everytime something moves...like leaves blowing around, the cow walking past their pen, me opening gates to go to the barn...etc.

I agree about the tin roof. They have long nails and if even just one is running back and forth yelling it's really bad. Get three or four up there and we had to just laugh about it, it could drive you nuts.

I'm down to two guineas now. I think they're both boys because I haven't heard the buckwheat call since the last one disappeared. They get along very well with my chickens, unlike before. That makes me wonder if male guineas are more docile than the girls. I've seen other (now deceased) guineas chase my roo all over the place. The tables have turned now and he chases them.

That reminds me of turkeys. YOu try to talk and they have to gobble at the same time. It is funny in a way.

My female is more chatty than the male. It doesn't bother me, it's less annoying than my roosters. I worried about that at first, I bought mine at a fur and feather swap, and at the swap the guineas really made a lot of racket, but they settle down once they get home.

To me their chatter sounds "homey"

I only have two females, but they have very different voices. One is higher and more piercing, and the other one is lower and sounds like she has a sore throat.

Love my guineas. HATE their racket!

From a distance, sure.  Outside my window, ok.  When I'm in the coop and they are screaming at me, not so much.  It's well within tolerable though.  My husband loses his patience and yells at them to shut up then rushes to get chores done so he can leave the coop.  I'm wondering how he's going to handle the fact we only have 3 and are getting 18 more.  tongue
