@foxprairie - Your little girl looks very sweet, but she is not show quality. I am sure she is a wonderful pet and that is even more important to many people. I will say that she seems to have really dark eyes, which is good. There are breeders that would like to have eyes that dark in their birds. You didn't say where she came from, but I would guess either a commercial hatchery or a breeder that sells off the ones that won't be shown. She is likely perky, quirky, and chatty. I bet she is curious and busy but doesn't care to beheld. What a joy they are to own. If you ever decide to breed them or to have some to show, let us know and we will help you locate some really good quality Campines. In the meantime, enjoy your girl, she is very similar to the first ones I had. They came from Ideal Hatchery and they were the reason I raise them now.

Thanks Wisher 1000 i got her from dunlap hatchery. Yes she has been fun. She does have very dark eyes. I assumed she would not be show quality. Im glad i found this thread it been fun to see everyones pics:)

Hey Wisher 1000 Hunter got his first egg today, LOL sorta shocked us as cold as its been. We put some sand in the run and they love it time to give them some nest now gotta love these Campines.

That's great. Not all of my Campines have started yet but they are all close. They usually lay 2 or 3 eggs a week. Some hens do better, some lay less but this generation is a little better than what I had last year which were WAY better than the generation befor that. That's what I want - a little improvement each year. Back in their glory days, the Campines were nick named "The Everyday Layer." I hope to improve production in my line so that they more closely resemble that moniker.

I am leaving in the morning headed to the poultry show in Newnan, Georgia. I am taking ten Campines to show and to sell. Will any of you be there?

I didn't realize they laid that few of eggs. My 2 hens have each average 2-3 a week this winter, but last summer they were more like 5 a week. That was their 1st year of lay though, so it may drop this year. I still love their quirky personality though! My 4 pullets are about 14 weeks now so I'll have to start integrating them in before long.
