I like that idea, automatic pressure cylinder, i'm going to look into that.

Caretaker of a lovely mixed flock including: australorp, plymouth rocks, wyandotte, d'uccles, silkies, EEs, andalusian, and a few seramas, plus a golden retriever, great dane, and three cats.  I always swore that I wouldn't succumb to chicken math.  I lied.

Wowwie!  ep  Nice coop! How many chickens will you have in it?

My current family:     A kooky Belgian Malinois, a feisty Pembroke Welsh Corgi,  2 ponds full of friendly fish
                        a small parrot, 1 BR, 1 SS, 1 BLRW, 1 EE and of course a wonderful, understanding husband!
               
                                         Arguing is pointless.    It can hurt your head too.

I love that!  I am also building an 8x8 coop with a similar run.  Can I ask how you built your roof trusses?  What angle are they at?  Did you make a bird's mouth cut in them and overlap the wall boards?

I got 26 chicks in the brooder right now, only 5 days old.

The roof trusses are 60" long each with a 6" overhang, no birds mouth, i put 1x6's in between the trusses on hinges and locks so i can open them in the summer for more air.
it's 24" high in the center. i cut the truss at a 25 deg and nailed with 3x9 steel nail plates (got at lowes) on both sides.  I shood up on the roof 240lbs.
i also made the roof 9' long to have a 1' overhang at door.

the girls are in the coop, and coop and run are done, just need painting.
i went with a 50/50 on the run roof to save cost, 8ft roofed and 8ft wired.
we have all sand and it was something to which the girls take a dust bath, never seen the before.
