I have a book I bought from tractor supply and I've also researched this a lot I have 6 different colors of polish, and around 30 polish total! I've read multiple places that they are excellent layers (they lay 200+ eggs a year!) That was the exact word "excellent layer" its a book with 100 different breeds of chickens in it, and each breed has 2 pages full of all the information you could possibly need to know about that particular that breed! If you research some polish are not only absolutely beautiful and unique, they are actually really really good layers! Only negative with the polish breed is they are not known for being broody! I don't care even if they just laid 100 eggs a year I would be happy with the breed and keep them! Polish chickens are just so fun to have! I couldn't imagine having chickens and not having a couple polish in the mix! It's defiantly a bonus that they lay like I said 200+ eggs a year!I had one Polish hen once, but she got bit by a black widow spider, and died. /img/smilies/hit.gif But I will say that I heard that they don't lay as well as some other breeds. So maybe they are just taking longer since from what I've heard they are not kept for their laying ability or for meat.
