Question for you Little Giant incubator owners?

i removed the one over the fan but found it let my temp fluctuate more then I wanted so I put it back in. but this was just my personal experience. also during the hatch I lost two chicks I feel cause the humidity dropped to around 30%. found it was cause one of the glass windows had started to fall out while I had the lid off and didn't notice it. the membrane dried out and they got stuck in the shell why'll I was at work. hope this helps. my first lime using the foam incubators. have a metal one got from sears many many years ago.

I have a Little Giant styrofoam incubator that I bought used online through Craigslist. I don't know if it ever had a fan, but I installed one from an eBay seller (which wasn't a Little Giant branded fan, but works great); however, I've noticed that the fan does make the temperature and humidity fluctuate wildly if I remove both red plugs during incubating.

To solve this problem, I leave 1 plug in for Day 1 to 18, then remove the 2nd plug on the last days to allow for more air circulation while the chicks are hatching. It does mean though that I have to fill the water reservoirs quite often because I lose a lot of humidity with the 2nd plug out. I also have to fiddle with the temperature to get it to hold.

Hope that helps!
