La Fleche Thread ~ PIC of my Black La Fleche - Page 3

I hadn't read that about La Fleche, interesting. I wouldn't have thought of them as a meat bird.

BTW Japanese, mille fleur Jap project,  corturnix quail, some red chickens I got at TSC, one EE and 2 EE chicks, and some really poor pyncheons, 10 ducks and 2 welsh harlequin ducklings,  one pheasant hen, one pheasant chick, one MFC chick, 2 Norwegian Jaerhon chicks.

Hi anthonyjames

I plan to selective breed my Black La Fleche for showing and at some point in the future when I feel they are of show quality I plan to show them.

Hi becky3086

They were developed in France as a meat fowl and at one time they were thought to be the best meat breed in France.

Here is a little information on the La Fleche breed out of a book I have   "  RACES  OF  DOMESTIC  POULTRY  "   from one of the great poultry fancier's of the past " Edward Brown  ".

Speaking of the qualities of the La Fleche, it is remarkable for the fineness of its flesh; both poulardes and capons are very renowned: they are distinguished above all for their quality of fattening, and for the increase of flesh.

You need to start focusing on individual chicks, so we can see what's actually going on. smile I want to see their detailed faces and bodies.

Hi smile

I am very surprized in how my La Fleche chicks personalities have changed in the last few days. Just last week when I would walk into their pen they would be running and flying everywhere  '' VERY FLIGHTY ''.D  But now in the last few days they seem to be very curious of me walking up to me and today one even flew up onto my arm while I was watching them.big_smile

Urch and Turnland poultry in Minnesota has show quality Black La Fleche, you should get some baby chicks from them to get genetic diversity. We ordered an assortment from them 2 years ago and got about 10 of them. They were great quality and turned out large and showey. Sadly we sold them because we had no interest in breeding them but you should look into them. thumbsup
