Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

Nice, I'm thinking about making my own red Pyles using my bb reds and a white hen. I just have to find a white hen. Lol
If you don't mind, I'd love to see pics of your Porcelains. I've been looking at them for a decent amount of time now.

Very nice! Do they carry higher quality birds?
I need to really start studying chicken genetics. Didn't know that's how you got Red Pyle!

I'll most certainly be posting pics when I get them!

Yes, they have good birds and a good reputation, and their prices aren't too bad. Higher than the large commercial hatcheries in the States though.

Yeah, their genetics are really fun to learn and memorize.
It is! I mean, of course you need to selectivity breed to get the standard Red Pyle, but that's how you get the base color.
It's similar with Brown reds, too. A bb red cock over a black hen will get you the Brown red base color. I'm currently working on my own line of Brown reds.
Here's my F1 pair I made.

Same cock in these 2 pics.

Awesome, looking forward to seeing them.

Dang, that's dang near everything you could want from a hatchery.
Ahh, right. Our stuff is way over priced anyways. Lol

@Canadian Wind , if you're interested, I have a thread about my all breeding projects; doing follow ups on the birds, new hatches, working my way to breeding/making show quality birds and new project ideas.
Sure thing! I'm not interested in show quality, since I find that they ask for too many extremes in a lot of cases (or dubbing the comb, which I'm against personally) but I'd love to follow along for the genetics info!

Aright, cool.
Yeah, no worries. That's just a personal goal for myself, I want to create my own line of show quality bb reds; then continue to work on other colors I'm interested in.
I totally agree, I don't dub my birds. I just leave their comb because I still have things to work on in my line, so it would be useless if I dubbed them.
Awesome, I'll tag you.

Do be aware though, when I started the thread I wasn't the best at typing, so there's a "few" spelling errors.. Lol

Getting Porcelain and Red Pyle this year. I'd ordered Mille Fleurs, but the eggs weren't hatching so went with the Porcelain as a second choice.

Getting them from a 'local' (2 hours away) hatchery, Performance Poultry. They have a good reputation. Difficult to find them in this area.
im making my own porcelains

What combination do you use for that? I'm still not experienced enough with the chicken genetics to attempt this. Is it blue x Mille Fleurs?
I have a procelain hen. I bred her to my Fawn, the chicks carry Lavender and mottled, so when I breed one of the Rooster chicks back to my porcelain girl I should get porcelain one. Porcelain OEGB seem to be hard to find.

Porclain is actually Lavender not blue. So you'd want to breed Lavender to Millie Fleur. All your chicks would hatch out buff but carry the lavender and mottled gene (lavender and mottled are recessive). Breed the F1s together to get porcelain chicks.

So much easier to order a buncha Porcelain chicks!
