I need to bulid some nesting boxes for my ducks................i need some idea's on what they should look like......................post pictures of you duck nesting boxes

Well a quick and easy way is to use lawnmower grass catchers, they are easy to clean and have a handle to move the nest for egg inspections, or moving a broody some place safe!

For what it's worth, I don't plan on nesting boxes since all the recommendations for runners have been not to bother. They rarely get broody (there is always the exception that proves the rule, I know), and don't apparently want them. I may try something like milk crates on their sides with a few inches of straw on the bottom and see if my little flock appreciates them. Runners only get to be about three and a half pounds. They stand tall, but they are smallish ducks.

What breed are you providing for? If a small one, the milk crates would probably do it. Some people I have seen just put squares of plywood vertically a foot or so apart along one wall.

I don't have nesting boxes for my ducks either. Believe it or not, they fly in the chicken nesting boxes and lay their eggs. They also lay in the goat house, the roosting stalls, the flower bed, on top of the chicken house.........aw heck, they lay everywhere and anywhere they want to. It's an egg hunt EVERY DAY !

I Scovies and a Cayuga...they lay wherever they feel like it. I provided large nesting boxes and they never went in them. The chickens love them so...there you go. Every day is like Easter over here.
