Maine chicken swaps 2010 - Page 28

Hoppy, sorry about the weasel attack and your loss.  When I first read that I was thinking of scooter.

Reading your last post on food coloring added to a hens vent has me wondering what the purpose of doing that is, other than giving them a colored butt hole.

Are you just marking the most recent eggs laid?

bob

PS

I'm still working on the particulars for the "Farm Day" for the Sanford, Me TSC this 2011.  As soon as I get another printer I'll give a copy to Andrea over at TSC (Sanford) to secure a spot for this Spring.

Farm Day/Chicken Swap  Every Saturday 9 am to 1 pm TSC Sanford, Me.

the food coloring marks the last few eggs laid, not sure how long it lasts, probably more depends on how much you use and other fine details.  I'm not scooters owner, I have the wyandottes.

If you love your chicken, thank a breeder. NPIP tested

Well that explains why you don't have scooter, sorry about that, chalk one up for senility.

I will try it. I've got 2 BLRW hens...so I'll try to mark both of them and see what I get. I know that rooster LOVES both of them very, VERY much!  wink

Hi Hoppy,

just wanted to say that I am very sad to hear you lost your beautiful boys.  I have my fingers crossed for you that you get chicks or find a roo from your breeding.  best of luck.

If I can't get one of my own and only get eggs, I'd be looking for a  young roo of quality to replace mine.
