Arizona Chickens - Page 2476

18 bobwhite quail made it out and are stealing my heart. I started with 37 shipped eggs, when I candled each one of those tiny eggies, I was left with 21 with development. 1 died during hatch, 1 died because I got anxious(never again) and the last quit some days before. I would call that a sucessful first hatch with the new bator.

Sonoran,

thank you!  We are working with a vet, but all of these questions were coming up after hours and in preparation for us leaving for 2 weeks tomorrow morning.  Our Serama is still trucking along, eating, pooping etc but sneezy, and now one of the OEGBs is looking puffy/sleepy although no congestion (yet).  We have 21 chickens so who knows where this will go next, if it does.

So I am guessing that we will have a couple more display symptoms after we leave, but we just have to hope for the best.  We are taking these 2 into the vet 7 am tomorrow for a check up/more antibiotics probably, and will probably try to house the two separately in a storage shed where the pet sitter can (hopefully) dose their water since we KNOW they've got something going on.  I am going to lose my mind fretting about them and all of our others.  Why does this always happen before going out of town?!  I want all of our babies to be ok!!!!  I just don't want them all to get it.....

So here is a weekend and a half's results:

IMG_3918.JPG

The light in the foreground is the "it's always summer time so lay more eggs" light

The light in the background is the "Mikey is over protective, here is some warmth for the chickies" light

IMG_3916.JPG

On the left it the timer for the night to day light, on the right is the heat lamp.

The exterior cover needed some modification to allow the timer to fit.

DONE!

If I have enough "Spiz-a-rinkdom" tomorrow after school I'm going to cordon off part of the coop for a grow out pen.

BTW - Selena - I put an outlet in on the right side like you suggested for the chickies heat lamp.

Edited cause it got dark out!

Homey ehhh?

That is very cool looking but does it hurt the peepers?
