Mama Hen Chris, I loved the pic of Veronica sunbathing and the vinyl-coated hardware cloth grass protector too--very nice!

pdx2phx, I hope your Serama is O.K.  hugs.gif

pastrymama, Way to go on the hatch!  I'll bet those quail are stinkin' cute!

SherrieT  I wanted to thank you again for getting me the hatching eggs.   Today was hatch day!  Five of the twelve eggs never started, which I removed at day 10.  Of the seven remaining eggs, all hatched!  I have have chicks again!  wee.gif

Thanks Gallo!

The Coke fixture was inherited when we bought the house.

The Control Tower wanted it to go bye-bye (It was in the dining room) ep.gif

It was actually in the dump trailer and I pulled it out figuring that "someday" it'd get used.gig.gif

The 2 week olds have been climbing into their feeder and kicking (scratching?) out their feed.

I have one of those mini bulk feeders - the metal "rabbit type" feeder.

I'm a kinda reasonable guy.

I've had a talk with the wee ones but they just don't seem to get the message.

STOP WASTING FEED!

Maybe I'm not speaking clearly enough?

On the left it the timer for the night to day light, on the right is the heat lamp.

The exterior cover needed some modification to allow the timer to fit.

DONE!

If I have enough "Spiz-a-rinkdom" tomorrow after school I'm going to cordon off part of the coop for a grow out pen.

BTW - Selena - I put an outlet in on the right side like you suggested for the chickies heat lamp.

Edited cause it got dark out!

Homey ehhh?

Love it..Great job. Nice set up for the girls.

Thanks Gallo. The coated hardware is working great . The girls cannot scratch the grass to nothing. They killed "our" grass. Suggested to hubby to make them their own area. We have baby gates so they can't get to "our" yard.

Hey everyone, just a note for anyone wanting to participate in the BYC Easter Hatch-Along.  I may have extra Aloha eggs available then.  Looking for new breeders - but if you can't house roos or aren't interested in the project, I would be forever grateful for anyone who would consider hatching some chicks to raise, and donating the very best hen per dozen eggs donated back to the breeding program.  You'd be welcome to keep the rest.

In a nutshell, this project was started to try and re-create something like Swedish Flower Hens in America.  A couple years after I started it, Greenfire imported actual Swedish Flower Chickens, but now these are starting to look really neat, and they come in some colors that Swedish Flower Hens don't come in.  So I've decided to keep going with the project.

Here is more info:

I also have a Blog with more info - see my sig.

Thanks!

LOL....I was just looking at the pictures and wondering if you took my advice.  Hope it works out for you.  Then you'll have an outlet if you decide to place a fan in there to cool the ladies in the summer or if you decide to get an incubator and need power because the control tower won't let you keep it inside.  You could build a box and hide the incubator from the control tower.  Just a thought.  Then when they hatch, quickly and discretely sell them or make a hidden brooder.thumbsup.gif
