I Got a real treat this morning while feeding. I ended up on the receiving end of one of my Momma geese laying an egg!!! What an awesome experience. She had just settled in to the nest when I stumbled by and noticed that she didnt move for food so I sat down on a log and observed and ended up getting the show of the week. It was so intense and interesting. I have had poultry for over 40 years and never got this view. After the egg was dry and Flippy the Momma goose left, I took the egg inside with the idea of giving it to a neighbor who loves to eat my goose eggs hard boiled. As I was carring it down the street to surprise my neighbor with it, an elderly couple saw it and stopped me to ask what it was. After explaining to them about the egg and where it came from, they said that they sure would like to have an egg like that sometime if I ever had another. Sooo, end of story, the Oldies got the egg and we all had a happy ending!!! (The neighbor I was going to give it to never knew what happened!!! LOL ).
I never butchered a chicken before, but would love to learn how (only watched youtube videos on it). May I be present for it? I would love to help out. No roos needed though, I have plenty of chickens already..would love the education and hands on experience though.
Fantastic story Puffycheeks!

They are adorable.

Time to show off my babies. They grow too quickly for sure. Was a nice day out, so I put them in their new home for the day. They enjoyed jumping on their roost. The big girls didn't seen to care that they were around.
L-R
Veronica (BR) Roberta (SLW) Zsa Zsa (SLW)- 18 days old
Olivia and Eliza (EE's)- 25 days old
Cooper (10 months) got to "play" with the babies yesterday. He grunts at them to call them. They are faster than he is.
Hubby took this one. I was sitting on the floor with the girlies and they all jumped on my arm.
Love my BYC shirt. Thanks Mikey.

Love the Mohawk

I got to cuddle with my chickies today. Some picts...
Princess is getting bigger - They are 6 weeks old now.
Still in the awkward adolescent phase...
So I'm in the grow out pen, camera-less and I'm holding one and another jumps on my wrist.
I tried to stage the shot after getting the camera but no way it looked as cute.
My regal Spit-en-peeper!
Look at the wings on these 6 week olds!
I watched one hover 3-1/2 feet off the ground for several seconds deciding whether on not she wanted to go over the pen fence.
These darn birds are too darn cute darn it!
I luvs ma peepers!
