Well I turn up the stat and I thought just a bit but then I forgot to check them. When I finally remembered to the temp was 106! Been that way I think for at least 2 hours! I am just sick!hit.gif

It takes awhile for the INSIDE egg temperature to change,  I'd say to get the temperature back where it needs to be and hope for the best.  You might want to candle for movement.

I am getting so anxious for chicks! I REALLY, REALLY hope those eggs hatch! I haven't candled for a long time. I'm reading about everyone putting their eggs in lockdown, but I'm not using an incubator. Do I need to do anything else? Broody lockdown? smile.png

My family consists of 1 DH, who is more tolerant than anyone should be; 5 children, ages 7 and under and one due any day now; 3 totally annoying dogs, and 12 chickens!

Many thanks to everyone who has tried to help my poor chix.  I know it was lice I saw on the tumor/sick ones head near the ear area.  I havent been on in a couple of days cuz I have been dusting/spraying like a crazy person.  I checked each chicken before I dusted them and did not find any bugs at all on any of the other birds.  They all got treated anyway just in case.  Do you think its possible that the sick one got them because her immune system is down?   I have isolated the hen with the tumor as I had to cut part of the tumor away because it was in her mouth and she was almost not able to eat anymore.  Happy to say, she recovered just fine although I could not remove the entire tumor, due to excessive blood loss, but got enough of it out so she can eat better and drink .  thumbsup.gif    She seems so much happier now but does not like being penned up.  Any idea when I can let her loose again to be with her buddies?  Thanks again sooooo much.  Also, I was wondering, do I need to give any kind of oral meds to the flock?  OOPS!  1 more question.  About the ivermectin?  Where do I get it, what kind/type and how do I use it with the poultry?  bow.gif

Fuzzyird :  I think your eggs will be OK.  I have had hens hide and sit on eggs during the very hottest parts of the summer and the chicks have hatched fine.  Good luck!

Quote: NOVA-  so sorry to hear about all your baby troubles.  I know that ducks can not handle some types of antibiotics very well and also the medicated chick feed will kill ducklings.  Please make sure which feed you have.  Best of luck!

They wish to get a teen or adult silkie chickens. I figure that many of you might have or might know of a silkie breeder. If anyone knows of someone who has silkies, let me know the contact info so I can give that info to my friends.

Quote:  Yes, I also have NEVER had any pest problems.  with any of my poulyry or even never had ticks or fleas on my dogs.  I have no idea where this came from .  Maybe some wild birds grought me the gifts!  rant.gif   I have found a couple of dead pigeons and sparrows lately though.    I am thinking it was only the ill one due to her lowered immune system.  All birds have now been checked out and dusted just to be sure.  I am doing spot checks whenever I can catch one to check and so far so good.!

Puffycheeks, I don't have any experience with Ivermectin so I don't know the answer to that question.  Lots of others here do though.   I'm wondering about the "tumor" your sick hen's mouth/head.   Could it be possible that she has Trichomoniasis?  Her symptoms sound so much like it, especially with it blocking her mouth and the swelling in the face.  Here's what the Merck Vet. Manual says about it.  It's very common in AZ and can be transmitted to chickens via wild birds, especially pigeons.
