Two quick questions- Where is the best place to buy shade cloth? My dad isn't sure, and what with money being as tight as it is (curse thee, gas and taxes!) we want a good price for about 6 sq. feet.

Secondly, anyone from the East Tucson area going up to Phoenix any time soon? PuffyCheeks has most generously offered a few baby chicks to make up for the birds I've lost (two this week alone) but seeing as she's up there and I'm down here... sad.png I can chip in for gas, if it helps.

I just checked and Homer has 3 - 4 colors and for a 6 ' x 20' piece they get around $20

Shadecloth usually comes in 6' widths, and is sold by the foot, or from a fabric store by the yard.  You can find it in wider widths, but it is usually more expensive.  Usually about $1.85 or so per foot.

There is a kind (aluminet) that is supposed to be super good at keeping things cooler, but I don't know of anywhere to purchase except online, and it is a lot more expensive.

I have some "mutt" started birds you could have.

Ok. Homer is Home Depot, right?

I'm OK with mutts, but once again, the distance is a problem. he.gif

Fudge.  I was hoping that it was cheaper out your way, or that maybe they had a discontinued package/colour, etc.

Where are you at? I'm not sure if this will help but I'm in Tucson and will be going to Phoenix Airport the evening of the 15th. I could go earlier and pick up chicks if you are close to me.

Just saw you are in E Tucson. I'm NW but I'm sure we could figure out a pick up place if you don't mind waiting.

I might just PM Sonoran Silkies about a few chicks too !!

I just (almost) finished building my first ever construction project, a grow up pen for my babies that  are too big for the house and was wondering how big of a roost I should use .  How big around and also how high from the ground?  After I install that it will be done!!!
