ok, another plea for the waterfowl.

 

Webfoot ResQ in Gilbert is in a desperate situation. If anyone is thinking of wanting a few more ducks or geese, please please PLEASE, contact me and/or Memphis and we will get you in touch with Tammy. Her computer is down and most days her mailbox is full, but these animals need to be adopted like yesterday.  She has all kinds of wonderful ducks and geese, almost all purebred that have been dumped in a pond after Easter. She is in desperate need of food donations to keep these animals alive, meds to rehab the ones caught up in fishing line or those that have been exposed to toxins or botulism. She also really needs more people to provide foster homes for some animals. Requirements would be shelter, grass, a love of these animals and to care for them, a pond or kiddie pool to swim in and supplemental feed.

 

If you would like to adopt, straw or bermuda bedding is needed, crumbles, scratch grains are all appreciated and so desperately needed.

 

She also has cats that need homes, so cat food is also needed.

 

If anyone would just like to make any kind of donation to the rescue for the animals, please contact us and we will let you know where you can do so, or if you are on the north side of town, I can come to you and deliver to the rescue.

 

I know that everyone on here loves animals, maybe you can find room for a pair or two of ducks or perhaps a sweet kitty that needs a home?

Yes, that is who I use! I absolutely love him! I take my Green Cheek Conjure, dogs and my ferrets to him also. He doesn't order a lot of tests to pad the bills. He usually knows what is wrong just by looking at them. I trust him. That is why I asked him to look at my chicken too...LOL He had 24 chickens and a coyote came one night when he forgot to put them away and killed 12 he said. He said he has never had a bird of prey try to take any. He doesn't have misters or a fan for them. He just has a  acre of mature trees with lots of shade. (my husband is teasing me about this one saying even the vet doesn't use misters or a fan...LOL) He said he has never had any get sick even. (I had asked him about getting Tylan just in case) He trimmed the bottom beak way back to get it to fit and told me the one thing to be careful of it to make sure you hold their tongue back so you don't clip it. He gave me some sticks that look like a match and on the end of it, it has something on it to heal the wounds. He said to rub it on the cut end to heal it and stop the bleeding after I clip it. It was painful for the chicken. I feel so bad. I hope it was  worth it. It was 46.00 I think for him to do it, the cost of a normal exotic animal visit. I do know another lady Jody that was recommended from Dalton's bird store that will come out to the house next time to keep it trimmed. She works with another vet Dr. Driggers. She normally does bird beaks and I think she charges like 25.00.

Now, now, Pastry, you are confusing you sweet little duckies (remember that song from back in the '60s  "Rubber Ducky, You're the One") with the adorable little piggies that you KNOW you have been eyeing to place right next to your western (I think?) fence--and I know you plan to empty all the duckie pools into the cute little piggies yard for their enjoyment.  They will have SO much fun playing and digging in the nice mud you create for them.  And I KNOW your dear neighbor will be SO on board with the whole idea.  But, piggies WILL eat you if you fall onto their ground.

East Valley Wildlife is located in southeast Chandler and can almost certainly help take in some of the waterfowl.  They always need donations, too, but they do have a number of volunteers.  

I posted on my Facebook about it. I have a lot of animal lovers on there. I will forward any interest. East Valley wildlife is a great option. I volunteer with them sometimes. That is how I got my quail...LOL

The coop is 5ft long x 4ft deep x 4ft tall. It has 2 nesting boxes and a perch. Coop goes for $160.00 and he'll add a 9ft long run for me for a total of $270.  I don't know if that is a smoking deal but best I've seen on craigslist.

The comment about never having a bird of prey take a chicken is what I have heard for a long time for I have been in Audobon Society and they say that hawks do not take chickens. Has anyone actually seen a hawk take a chicken?

Well, we will have to keep our eyes out for those hawk's,
Here in Tempe we had some turkey vultures closer to our
home when the dam was down at Tempe town lake.. It was
fun watching them come and go, our neighborhood had fun
meeting in the streets to gaulk over them.. That is when I
started asking around about peacocks.. I want them here in
Historic neighborhood.. University Height.. We are behind the
Fire station on apache.. Between our neighborhood and Hudson
Mannor, across Apache we have lots of chickens.. Some that
love to run about the neighborhood.. We will have a gathering
as soon as the weather permits a fire.. I will send out a invite..
However email is better for us, it takes a bit longer to figure out

Email our family and we will send out invites that way as well..

You should take that deal.  You will never build one for that price with brand new lumber, wire and hardware.  Good luck to you!
