Only at 100 or so the first week.. Maybe not even that hot.. My thermometer
was was located right where the light was pointed.. They stayed real close
to that.. That week we got them it was getting close to 110 here.. That is when
wne decided to bring them in and keep them by the light.
I did pay attention to what they were doing. So far we did not loose any from
heat.. The Two silkies that passed were sick when we got them..
"Not from my pet chicken"
I kept them away from our flock the first few days..
Then only had them together durring
their home cleaning..
Schould I be worried? Even now? I did get some cocci-rid for them just in
case.. They finished it. No signs of any sick girls.. Girl you are the pro &
again thank you for all of your educated advice!!!

I love tadpoles too! ![]()
The year I built my pond a bunch of tadpoles hatched out in it. I was thrilled until I watched the goldfish eat every last one of them. Now the fish must eat the eggs as soon as they are laid. I have toads mating in the pond every time there's a storm but I haven't found any eggs (let alone tadpoles) since that first year. Bummer. I keep telling the toads that the gigantic puddle down the wash is safer to mate in, but they don't listen to me.
Love toads, especially the spadefoots. That bleating call makes me smile every time I hear it. ![]()

Ain't that the truth! My two girls are so pathetic when it comes to seeing any sort of new creature. They went absolutely ecstatic when we went to the farm for raw milk. The were bouncing up and down in their seats the entire 68-mile drive. Thank God they were buckled in, or I'd have dents in my roof from their heads! And they just wanted to see a couple of cows. I want to get them out camping this year, probably in September. We'll go up to Kohl's Lake, Willow Springs or Canyon Lake. I love it up there on the Rim. Then comes the joys of teaching them to squat in the forest...

She is having a great time just staring at them. We caught something else with the tadpole....any ideas what this is?? It's not from a lake or anything....just a big mudhole down the street. I guess it could be some sort of bug. Or maybe an actual water critter that washed down from Prescott?? It looks like a tiny stingray, has a bunch of stringy leg things that ruffle to move it through the water, and a split tail. It acts like it wants to burrow in muck. I know these pics are bad, will try to get some tomorrow when we clean out the water.
Any ideas??
VERY COOL!!!

A pond!! . .........one of these days!!
Right now it is taking all my energy just to keep everyone and everything alive. Before the monsoon, all I did was drag hoses around. Now, I spend my days pulling weeds. This fall we have to get a watering system in place for the trees, then I can move on to another project.
