Hola! I have a friend who needs to get rid of an annoying rooster. He's a bit territorial, as is common to the dutch breed. The only pic he sent me was this one, so I suppose it's one of the roosters you see here. roll.png PM me if you are interested!

I cleaned ou the permanent run last night and brought the 3 bigt girls in with the 11 wk olds.  The big girls bullied the olthers off the roost, so they slept huddled on the ground in the corner.  This morning I opened the door so they could all free range together.  The big girls took off (they free range daily), but the little girls are still in the run.  Also, the big girls are pecking at the little girls if they come close.  Is there anyway to make the transition easier for all of them?  I've heard if you spray them with vinegar water they'll like each other more since they have the same smell.  Any thoughts?

Don't know if you've checked out The Chicken Chick's blog but she has a great example on how to fix up the girls.  http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2011/07/bumblefoot-causes-treatment-warning.html

I've never heard of that but I am fairly new at chicken raising.  I just leave mine to fend for themselves.  They'll figure it out.  If they're bleeding then I'll pull them out.  I haven't had blood yet.  I have some girls that I am unsure of their age.  I was told they are 4-5 months old.  They are Bantam Cochin Frizzles.  The standard size breed hens, 7 months old, peck at the pullets if they get too close.

Questions on pullets.  I have two pullets that are suppose to be 4-5 months old.  They still cheep.  Neither will get out of the coop on their own and they also won't get back in on their own.  When do they start doing this by themselves?  I have to hunt them down at night, listening for the cheeping to find them, so I can get them back into the coop.  My standard sized breeds did this on their own after about 8 weeks.

No, never heard of the vinegar trick. It sounds interesting,  If you try it let us know how it works out.

Since the big girls are only cranky when the little ones get to close, I wouldn't worry.  The little girls will learn to keep their distance.  Once they learn the pecking order it will be peaceful again.  I do intervene if I see blood.
