Here's a really useful article that inspires people to get organized:
Direct Links to Help You Change Your Local Chicken L.O.R.E. - Page 2
I am from Winchester, CT - I am a Selectman, in fact. I noticed information regarding our chicken laws that you posted, and noticed that it was incorrect. Roosters ARE allowed in Winchester, and it says they are not. How do I change this? Can you? Believe it or not, this can be a contentious issue among some folks who cite this website as though it were a legal source, using it to intimidate the owners of roosters, as in "See! Right there! It says roosters aren't allowed!" In any case, it is my job (among other things) to know the current ordinances, and craft new ones, and I can assure you that there is no ordinance whatsoever that would prevent someone from owning a rooster.
PS: Dirk Diggler is the name of one of my blue-laced red wyandotte roosters! That's why I chose this user name... mostly.
I am in Huber Heights, OH and am trying to get the ordinance amended. We received a 6 month extension for our personal chicks and to get a Resident Initiative underway, which will put the issue directly on the ballot. Does anyone have advice for pursuing an Initiative?
