Ok what’s the color difference between Lavender Orp VS. Blue Orp..

Is the Lavender a lighter shade of blue then the Blue Orp. .
I seen hatching eggs and day old chicks for both I was just wondering what the difference is in-between both breeds of colors of Orpington or are they the same

lavender is a recess gene , and blue is a daltion of black. there is a diffrence between them. Hopefully some one will come and explain it better

Lavender is a different color altogether. Blue is part of the andalusian color "family"- blue, black & splash. Those three are bred together to get more blue, black & splash. With lav- you need a lav gene from each parent to get more of that color offspring.

Lavender breeds true. That is the primary difference, along with the coloring which should be consistent throughout the body.

lav X lav = 100% lav

Bl X Bl = 25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash

Thanks Everyone
but it still new and not to clear to me as of yet but I get the picture as time goes on , I new at this color gene stuff

Can you or an experienced person Look at a chicken and figure out if it is Blue or Lavender, or does one need to know it's parents to label it?

My lavender splash hens have pink combs and lay pink eggs. Lavender carries red genetics which create the lavender color.
