Show Me Your Turkey Runs/coops/enclosures!

I noticed that the runs for turkeys are not generally covered much, if at all (I think). Does any one have any issues with their turkeys and rain? Its my first time raising turkeys so I'm still new at it, (and our babies are still to small to really go outside) but my dad mentioned that when he had turkeys he lost quite a few to the rain. how concerned should I be about it?

If you can get them to use it they need a small shed or 3 sided structure they can get out of the wind and inclement weather.

But mine most of the year will roost outside. On top of the run fencing in rain snow and cold.

I have lost few if any to weather

Mine don't care about the rain unless it's coming down heavy, than they seek shelter in their shed.

Turkeys cannot drown in the rain. If they are younger they could become chilled and die, and wet conditions can cause coccidiosis to become a problem. Another scenario is they crowded to stay warm and smothered each other. Rain doesn't kill turkeys.

They can be out in the rain when they are fully feathered and acclimated, usually by 3 months. I usually leave mine out with the big turkeys by 4 months.
