Special chick...please be a pullet! *New Pics!* - Page 3

Big Red's Mom :

Oh by the way.  If you can not find Lucky a home I would be glad to care for him.

Thanks for the offer...I might have to take you up on it.

Someone asked why I can't keep a roo...I live in the city (and not one that is yet completely enlightened regarding chickens of any sex!)  I'm REALLY hoping that it's a pullet (quiet, discreet!), but see signs pointing both ways.  I'll try to post some better pics this afternoon that show the comb in sunlight.  Maybe that will settle things!  Stay tuned...!

1 RIR, 4 Aussies, 1 SLW, 1 GLW, 2 Comets, 1 Buff Orpington, 1 Dominique, 2 boys, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 1 senegal parrot, 1 corn snake, 1 leopard gecko, 1 tolerant husband

More current pics.  I have more pullet votes than roo, but these might help out.

You had better believe it!  We were actually gone from home when the fire started.  We pulled into the drive and heard the fire alarm!  Our house is a 95 year old historic home, so you can imagine all of that dry wood just waiting to ignite.  If we had been five minutes later, the story would have been very different!  As it is, we have had contractors in our home for the last 4 weeks...smoke damage is incredible!  You can see why keeping this chick is more than just keeping a survivor.  "She" will serve as a reminder to be thankful for every day!  (Sounds cliche, I know! big_smile)

You should have seen the comb on my red sex link pullet at age 3 - 5 weeks!!!!.... People almost convinced me that my 'she' was a 'he'...

you definately need to give it a few more weeks especially considering you are unsure of the breed!

That's a pullet. Congrats! Also, she doesn't look quite like my RIRs...but maybe that's because she's in her awkward stage.

Ducks rule, but so do chickens. Proud owner of one female pekin named Sunny.
3 RIR/PRs and 2 EEs. 5 hens 28+ weeks old and almost full size! Please visit my dragons

I'm still saying pullet.  Mine all got their combs pretty early and that one isn't any bigger than their's were.

I can offer no help, BUT I have one just like her or him! I am trying to figure out what she is (or he....hoping she!). It is the same age and looks identical. Best of luck to you! And she is definitely lucky as are you! You have me thanking God that it didn't happen to us as my son had them in his room when we brought them home with a clip on lamp that dh bought that only held up to a 60watt bulb and he put a 100 watt in it!!!! It melted the lamp!!!

Here is my "little red hope its a hen" LOL
