In this instance, both the father and the mother raise the babies, it's recommended that
you have some button quail chicks if there's no mother and father around, because they
have to be taught to eat and scratch.

If you haven't raised these before, I can tell you from experience that there is truly a learning
curve to these. They can die from eating a touch of moldy food which they seem to look for,
they fight, males will kill another male if they're in a group, and they might be monogamous, I'm
not sure. If one dies in the group, be ready to handle a group of birds that cries for two weeks.
I'ts pitiful. They eat more than birdseed, they like cockatiel mixed with gamebird and love little
black sunflower seeds, and lots of fruit and vegetables, cooked if they're hard.

They also like getting their feet wet once a day, whether a little spritz from a hose held in place
while you walk away or a hose running on the ground, they like showers. They also have a heater
in place 24/7 if the temp is below 55. They also have no predator resistance, so all cracks and
crevices in their outdoor runs needs to be sealed off. THey prefer a dirt or sand floor, lots of plants
to hide in and again, running water on occasion. THey love worms and mealworms too. Demand
them, actually. I give them their food sometimes, and they just look at me, like , "is that it?"

They have great personalities, don't want to be held or touched, but will come up to you and take
things, if they're interested, and walk around your feet. It'd be fine to put a chair in their aviary,
they'd like the company. They do need space, these are NOT cage birds.

They also like to fly up and perch at night, preferring a tree or something with cover,
and I forgot to say that they talk to you all the time, like trills or soft whistles, you can
pretty much judge their moods any time.

Last time I was in Germany I went to a zoo with a tropical bird house that had several roul roul running around and I started to immitate their chirps and had a trio of them follow me throughout the facility constantly chatting at me. That was so cute, even got to touch the little male cause he kept running around my feet, almost stepped on him on several occasions

. I just wanted to stuff them in my pockets and take'em home.
Sadly it was too humid in there and the camera would not stay unfogged long enough to take pics.

One day when I have a indoor rainforest I will get some of those.
