24 Orpington Eggs in the bator -6 week update

Miss P, these are gorgeous. Now for an ignorant question....why are you all putting leg bands on the chickens? I keep one on one chicken as I don't want her mixed up with others accidentally who look like her as she is my baby, but why all the different colored bands? I could see one color for pullets and the other color for cockerals but you all are using different colors ??

I can tell the difference in them better now but when they were tiny I would get confused. I put little rubber bands on them so I can keep up. These blues came from tuffoldhen. I have 2 other batches from 2 other people. I want to be able at a glance to tell TOH's blues from Bamachickens and those from Gordies and those from WV. I don't have enough tiny pens and will have to mix them sooner or later.

thank you, that makes sense to me. LOL I understand trying to remember where they came from in place of what sex they are

I take it you have nothing from the goose eggs yet?

I would love to know how you made these boots or "sandles" for your baby. I just had 2 baby silkie bantams and they have curled toes. One of them is so bad that it is walking on its wrist. I am so worried about them. I want to help them. The two smaller ones came out fine. I don't understand why the two white ones have the bad feet. Thank you for posting this it gives me hope to see that they can overcome it. :)
