It's going to be 80 degrees this week and DH and I are rototilling the soon to be veggie garden!

I got my seeds in the mail last week - a TON of em, and can't WAIT to get started - I have to wait till April/May!

Im thinking about ordering some of the seeds from Sandhill Preservation. They have some "Tasty Chicken Treats" spring greens for the brooder yard that contain Essex Rape, Millet, and Mustard combination. Their fall mix adds turnip and radish seeds as well.

They even threw in two free packets.
I've got SO many I can't list them all - a bit of everything, right down to flowers, gourds and pumpkins for halloween. 4 types of tomato, 2 pea's, beans, 300 topsets garlic, ...... etc...etc.....
I'm so excited!!!! (I got the spring and fall mixes)

I joined The Easy Garden too. I can't wait for it to be as busy as this forum...............

here's a question for ya'll that have gardens, Do the free ranging chickens destroy your plants? How do you prevent that? I don't really want to put a barrier fence when I get around to having a garden, but if I have to I will.

After that, they would make a beeline every time I let them out. They don't free range anymore because of a too-close-for-comfort hawk attack. You're probably going to have to keep the girls on or fence the garden.
 
It doesn't take much of a barrier to keep them out. We just use the two foot tall chicken wire and some fiberglass push in fence rods. easy to go up, easy to come down if ya need to get the tiller in or something.
