Suburban lot, 1.78 acres, in 'town', with 7 neighbors direct to lot - most have at least 1acre, some have 2-4 acres.  Nearest neighbor to coop/run is 100' away.  But their pool is closer to the run (50'?) so if their kids are out, it can be noisy from the chickens.

 

Presently have 17 chickens - 8 extra cockerals that hatched out this spring, who won't see the first snow. 

 

But, we've got 26 cornish cross on order for delivery - so then, we'll have 35 chickens in a run that's roughly 50'x75'. 

 

Ours do not free range, due to heavy dog load in neighborhood - vicious neighbor dog who just wants to play with the chickens....not to be trusted.

I have 15 acres 11 of which are woods. We had 45 or so till the feral cats hit us so were starting over  right now I have 2 white rock roosters that are grown and  16 that are pol with 10 hertage rir and 7 silverlaced bantam cochins that are 3 weeks old. I think I'm gonna need a few more.

2 chickens on 1 acre. Keeping things simple for now.
