With several comments about finding it hard to obtain good quality Brabanters, has anyone purchased from Sandhill? Where have you found good quality stock? If our town changes it's regs, this is...
-
I like everything about it except how it looks right now. I know it lays decently. It is a great part of my great waterfowl flock.
-
First, watching a runner duck run is awesome. They can find their own food. They aren't like pekins in water. Mine haven't started laying but I heard their decent.
-
Its not as fat and slow as a pekin, but its not frail either. I want a mallard but I don't want a flying bird. The rouen is great for that.
-
They are my calmest birds and are easiest to catch. They eat less than Pekins. I heard they also lay well, but mine are younger.

I need to move some birds ... I have several Belgian d'Anver cockerels...they are mille fleur and from Boggy Bottom Bantams lines. I also have several really nice cockerels, large fowl Orpingtons and Orpington Crosses. Also a couple Delaweggers. They are going to be big and come from breeder lines as well. Both the parent roos are huge (13 - 14 lbs and the younger is 11 lbs), of good temperament, not human aggressive and great flock roosters. I have Blues, Blacks and patterned on the crosses. Looking for good homes for these boys. PM or email cetawin@gmail.com. I am located in Sadieville just North of Georgetown, KY.

Life shouldn't be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty, well-preserved body. but rather, to skid in sideways, totally worn out and exhausted while shouting loudly "WOW! What a ride!"

I have some project d'Uccles for sale. I have three pullets that are brown in color, not sure what they will look like when they grow up but they might be mille fleur when they get older. I also have a d'Uccle cockerel, actually I have two but I can't decide which one to keep so if you would like one you can choose which one you want. One is black and white and the other is blue with yellowish markings around his neck. They are around 8 weeks old. I have two silkie mutts, not sure on gender. One is black and the other is white with blue spots. One is 8 weeks old and the other is 11 weeks old. I have a white silkie mixed laying hen, who lays pretty good eggs for sale. I also have a paint silkie for sale, don't know what gender it is but leaning towards cockerel. He/shes 11 weeks old. Only selling it because I have too many paint silkies and he doesn't have very good spots. All my paint silkies are very sweet and will eat out of my hand.I also have a unrelated pair of rare cream legbars for sale. I'm only selling them because I've decided not to breed them anymore.Very friendly birds. PM me for more information, prices, and pictures if you're interested in anything.
Also, looking for a show quality golden laced Sebright pullet or hen and a giant frizzled Cochin pullet or hen.

I got 12 - 5 month old black sumatra chickens looks like 3 rooster 9 hens will sell 3 hens & rooster $50 or you take them all at $120 or will trade on OEG Bantams or make me an offer. If interested please e-mail me at case38man@aol.com
Sumatras are primarily an ornamental breed kept for their attractive plumage. Most often they are pitch black with a green sheen throughout the body and tail. The breed additionally comes in blue and white varieties. Males usually weigh between 4 and 5 pounds, and females weigh between 31⁄2 and 4 pounds. Hens lay about 100 white eggs a year. Both males and females have no wattles, and males often have multiple spurs. The breed is considered a primitive one; the Sumatra retains a strong flying ability, unlike most modern chicken breeds. The males will fight for dominance, but unlike most breeds, they usually do not fight to the death.
A unique feature of the Sumatra is that males have multiple spurs, with Sumatra sometimes having as many as 3 spurs per leg.
