Has anyone seen the horrific video of how they were treating the poor sick cows that has caused this recent meat recall? If not look at it. Be forwarned it is awful!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atoUonz-Rzo
I was outraged!!! I lived on a dairy my whole young life and I bawled when I saw this. Cows are sweet animals!!! Those people should have the same thing done to them!!! It is terrible what this world has come to. Yes we depend on animals for food, but they don't have to be treated with such disregard and disrespect!

edited to add:I saw it first on the news, I could not stand what I was seeing!!

there is no need for this and I think that the company and other companies like it should take responsability and either be shut down or pay a very large fine.

They showed a little bit of it on Fox News, doesn't surprise me with the sick people we have in the world these days. You are right about treating them with respect and a little bit of dignity even though they were put here to feed us. Sick people, they should be prodded also.

I know. Its horrific.

What's particularly sad is that its actually not SO much more horrific than the usual conditions most feedlots are allowed to keep cattle in. Ever been to Kansas? Its acre after acre of animals crammed into muddy, feces filled pens for months on end, being fed a diet they never evolved to eat. It is the most unholy, cruel and just plain WRONG thing you'll ever see. I don't know how agribusiness got so screwed up in this country, but it has.

I limit the meat I eat, and when I do eat meat, its from a local source that I know and trust to treat their animals with compassion, good care and common sense.

In our area three school districts used this meet, it was free through the gov. The lowest grade meat goes to schools. That is why you can get a full school breakfast for $0.90. Our daughter always pack a lunch because a history of things like this in the school lunch programs.

All cattle can be turned into beef. Aged dairy cows, hurt ones-like the one poor girl who couldn't walk, they all get butchered.

Sad, truly makes me wish I could raise my own. At least I would know it had been treated with compassion and respect.

Well, I was certainly living in my own little world then...thanks, ksacres. I didn't know.

I never thought that dairys would end up in my meatball sub...crud

There are supposed to be safeguards for "downers" not getting into our food supply...Good catch at the FDA. pffft.

It's really crappy how our food is treated...it's a commodity these days. just dollar signs on the hoof...or foot.

I'm so glad that this was brought to light...I'd pay more to know that my food was well treated before it was MY food.
