jumbo cornish x rock hens

most cornish x rocks don't live long enough to reproduce. Their rapid growth rate causes their organs to fail (the organs just cant keep up and get over worked, then fail).

As to if they would lay well, I doubt it. Cornishs' don't lay well to begin with although the rocks lay ok. But like I said, most likely they'll die off long before they get to laying age.

Those are meat birds. They most likely will not live long enough to reach laying age. They grow super fast. I had cockerals and at 12 weeks they were 10 - 13 lbs.

No bird will match the cornish x rock for growing speed or size. The xrocks are really for meat only.

If you're looking for a meat and egg bird (dual purpose) look in to something like a Rhode Island Red, Sussex, New Hamshire Red, the heavier breeds. The RIR is probably the best egg layer while still being fairly large sized and would be the one I'd suggest as they are very easy to find. Eventhough the RIR is pretty big, it's meat production will not match an xrock.

Some of the regulars here like the Freedom Rangers http://www.freedomrangers.net/ but I don't have any experience with them.

Edited to add: if you want a broody dual purpose bird, go with the Sussex.
