A flock of white fronted geese that have taken up residence on a local meadow.

Where does the red breasted originally come from? it has such a small bill.Very pretty goose. Beautiful shot of the geese flying in.

I think South Africa. Also I have a few questions for you guys... Mainly I'm planning on getting into Ornamental Ducks and have my lists made out but wanted to run everything by you guys first. First of all I plan on building my pens out of 6 foot tall chain-link fence and then wrapping it in hardware cloth or that small kind of hard black plastic chicken wire and then putting a sheet of tin around the outside as a sight blocker. Then for the warmer climate birds I'm going to put a small space heater in a shed with them to keep them warm during winter if it ever snows here again. Secondly the pens are going to be 10x10, 15x15, or 20x20 and keep only 1-4 species (depending on the species) per pen. Also the feed I use for my game chickens is 12% protein but its a mix of 15 or 18 different grains but I was going to mix it with some laying pellets then when Fall/Winter came around fill in with corn as an insulator feed. Last but not least I'd have kiddy pools in there till I could get concrete ponds in there for them. Another quick question about Wood Ducks even though I'm still a year or so away from having birds. Say I have Wood Ducks or another native birds but I only have the form to keep but not sell them, what would I do with the dead ones ? Would I still have to report them or would I just dispose of them ?

Here's a pic of the feed

I'm not sure but I know that eventually concrete ponds crack and can't hold water, I would also recommend mandarins before wood ducks, since mandies are slightly easier than wood ducks and are kind of a gateway species

Also can we see the enclosures for your ducks? They don't sound big enough, most species need larger areas to live.

I've already raised Woodys and Ringed Teals but sold the Ringed Teals after something chewed through three layers of black chicken wire and ate my Wood Ducks. Also the 10x10 and the 15x15 pens would only hold a pair apiece while I would hold 2 pairs per 20x20 cage. Also I haven't got the pens yet, I just wanted to run it by and get opinions of my plan. This is the pen that held my Ringed Teals:

I'm looking for mandarins, wood ducks or call ducks in Georgia or northeast Florida.
I have a young unrelated pair of Mandarins from California, my husband bought them for me. I still don't have the best set up for them. He paid $300 for the pair. I'm asking $250. They are absolutely gorgeous happy healthy birds. Exhibit quality. I'm just an hour below Tampa, Florida.

Concrete ponds are great, Woodies and Mandarins are both just as easy to maintain, be careful not to buy more birds than you have pens!
