My daughter was gone all last week for job training. It was her 1st time away from her son and she didn't much like it.

This week she has classes from 7 a.m. Monday - 4 p.m. Tuesday. She called last night and asked if I'd consider going with her, so she can take her son along. Oh sure, why not? 2 1/2 days in a hotel room with a 2-year-old? How hard can that be?

They should be here to pick me up about 1:00. I'm packed and ready. My daughter only has class until 1:00 pm on Monday. Weather permitting, we hope to go to their zoo, it's much bigger than ours.

My only real concern is leaving enough water for the dogs in containers they won't spill. They go through a LOT of water. So far, I have the bathroom trash can and my big stock pot full of water. I guess they'll survive until Tuesday night.

Hope you have a blast.......... not sure if I envy you in hotel with a 2 yr old.....needless to say , it sure wont be boring..I think your dogs will have plenty of water with what you have done..............how sweet you daughter wants her child with her.......I think my daughter would ask for more time away from her little ones

i feel for you, on the water issue i was surprised that cats even drink out of the toilet. kinda gross but if you leave the toilet lid up as a back up for the times your in a hurry, animals will water themselves.

2 year old advise, If all else fails find the cartoon network (but I like the zoo idea)

Whoa, I would be the opposite!

I've been feeling the need to run away lately, lol! Seriously though, several different toys/books and lots and lots of snacks and you should be good to go. With my boys, whenever they had something to eat, they seemed to behave better

We certainly timed our trip to the zoo right!

Monday afternoon it was near 70, sunny, beautiful day. Tuesday morning when we got up... 33. Brr

My Grandson, Keagan, is now at the age where he's really interested in the things around him. He was 2 in November. He was fascinated by a Mother gorilla sitting close to the glass, nursing her baby. But his absolute favorite exhibit? Lorakeets. Who knew? He didn't want to leave. I put a small container of nectar on his stroller tray and he sure liked watching those birds. They are beautiful.

And my dogs survived just fine, but they were sure glad to see me.
