feeding cabbage

Mine 100% hated the cabbage so i have never bought it again, tried and tried guess mine are just too picky lol They adore watermelon though, broccoli... peas, etc

I remember reading about the woman that drank so much water that she drowned. That was a horrible thing for her to participate in and the radio station to offer as a way to win a ridiculous prize.

When I could not let my chickens out in the people yard and they were confined to the chicken yard, I fed them cabbage in those ball containers with the bell. They absolutely loved it. The cabbage was gone in no time. Problem was that later on our eggs tasted like cabbage. Horrible!! So if you want to sell your eggs, don't give them cabbage or your customers won't be pleased. I am glad I found this out before starting to sell my eggs. I will never give my chickens cabbage again. So just beware of cabbage eggs!!

Agreed, too much of a good thing can kill you, or your chickens.

Large amounts of cabbage once in a whole wont hurt you, nor will small amounts daily (think sauerkraut), but large amounts daily can cause thyroid problems.

The woman who drank too much water didn't drown, but her body did shut down because she had a massive electrolyte imbalance...ie, her blood's minerals were too dilute for her body to function.

Any kind of melon is great. Even a rind with just a little 'meat' on it is OK. Also a 1/2 ear of corn is gone in about 10 minutes, as well a an apple dangled on a string.

I just hung a head of cabbage from the top of the coop for my girls and they want nothing to do with it, and are absolutely terrified of the whole setup. You should have seen the gymnastics they pulled off to get into their henhouse tonight! It was hysterical with my honking Welsummer calling for her sisters to get the heck to bed. I feel bad for stressing them out, but I sure did get a good laugh out of it.
