I have six pekin ducks that are close to 2 months old. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to tell the difference between the male and the female. I was told by one person that if thier tails curl up that those are males. Does anyone know if that is true or if there is another way to tell.

Thank-You

That is true, but they won't have the curls just yet.
However, by now you can sex them by their voice.

If they quack really loud, its a girl.

If they make a raspy, quiet quack, its a boy.

Trust me, you will know the difference once you hear both. The best way to do this is to grab each duck and seperate it from the others. It will most likely quack then.

Crap, I was hoping I had two female Pekins but now it "sounds' like I have one of each.

One REALLY quacks it up.. almost like a HONK.. the other sounds like he's smoked too much the night before.. Really raspy, and whisper like. Almost like an old squeak toy whose squeaker has seen better days..

I have four Pekin ducks that are my babies:) The way I tell them apart is by one: Sound-Males sound raspy, Females have a loud honk sound. Two: The look- Their tails will tell you, Males have a curl, Females do not. Simple as that:)

All of those, plus here my Pekin drake was quite a bit larger than the duck. Actually I think Pekins are pretty easy to tell apart, as long as they're old enough to show you the differences.

Yep, I guessed right by the voice.. the drake feathers are hard NOT to notice and even has a different shaped head now. I don't know what the normal size is for ducks, but the Pekins are about 4 times the size of the khakis..
