my rooster is attacking me!!!

I had a Barred Rock rooster I got for free. Was a wonderful, beautiful rooster with a great personality.. A very sweet rooster with my wife and I, but he was not so nice with my child.. He kept chasing her, pecked her in the butt... I posted here looking for advice and the next day I brought him back to where he came from.. I kind of regret it cause he was such a good looking rooster.

Anyway, I got a Buff Orpington rooster today and if I ever have issues like being attacked, or it becoming a safety issue with my children, well, I'll just have to build a run and not allow it to free range unless my child is in the house, etc, cause I want to keep it for breeding.. Will see how it goes.. he's only 11wks old.. He tried pecking me a few times today, but this was after he took a beating from three mature hens that kicked his ass, so I understand.. but he calmed down and let me hold him.

I'm gonna spend alot of time with him so he can earn my trust, etc and bond, etc cause he's a pretty rooster.... Funny that an 11wk old rooster I just met allowed me to pick him up and hold him, but the 10wk old pullets I raised from a couple days old run away and make me chase them, lol.

LeezyBreezy,
Well now I think you have a different problem than the person who started this post.... I had 3 that were not as friendly as the one I kept. Freecycle.com was my friend. A local woman took them t o show in the fair. I'm not sure if it was in the chicken with feathers "on" or "off" class,(LOL) but they are gone. Of course your own table would be just fine for such a nasty guy.
As for offering him back... how about a swap?, do you need this rooster? Do you want a rooster at all?? get rid of the fella... or let someone else ..

Well now I think you answered that question... AND It would be really obvious if you didn't keep showing up at her door without blood dripping from your leg too...LOL!

I know this is an old thread, but it came up when I did a google search. I have one that attacked me the other day. I wasn't sure if he was really going for me or not since I had a horse on the other side of me. My first thought was that he was trying to get out of the way of the horse and ran into my leg. He did it again tonight. He got chased. Both times when he did it was when I was getting ready to lock them in their pen for the night. I was carrying a container w/cracked corn in it. I don't know why he's suddenly started to do this since this is normal for when I lock them in. And he didn't do it last night. I hope I can break him of it. If not, I'll be looking for a replacement for him.
