I have 4 Brahma roos. They crow loudly from 4:00 until they go to bed. They are not quieter than other birds , but they all make different noises with one of them doing a half crow (So we always know who is about!) None of them started to crow until they were 7 months old.
On a positive note they look amazing when they are stretching up to crow, especially the Gold Brahma boy, Goliath, who stand 2.5 feet tall when he is crowing!
My girls ('Dott' & 'Hershey') make more noise than him
('Monkey', he jumps for treats if you're not quick enough).
They are 21 weeks old and started laying just this last week!!
I thought he was going to crow one day but it was a weird... not sure.
He scratches and clucks or stands guard. I have Him and
2 Black Jersey Giant roo's that are 24 weeks old standing guard
(and covering) 31 girls. (not to mention all the other small breed roo's
in the chicken tractors that NEVER shut up)
My 3 boys get along fine (for now) but 'Monkey' is quiet.
Will he STAY as big as my Black Jersey Giants??
He's calmer than them, not to mention quieter
but he's the same massive size as 'Suit' & 'Tie' (
