do you know B. Cummings, artist?

I had the pleasure of meeting Beth Cummings several times. I had a retail shop in Georgia and sold her limited edition prints. She visited my shop shortly before she died. I traveled to several shows where she was signing and selling her artwork. I collected her prints and still treasure a lot of her work. I will be moving soon and will be downsizing therefore I will have to part with some of these great prints. If anyone is interested you can send me a PM

How interesting that this connection between original art owner and artists son was made here on BYC prepetuated by a determined print owner. Wonder what will come of the connection?
My brother and I plan to create a wikipedia page that will have a description of are mother's life and art work. We will include a catalog that allow people to identify which prints they may have.

I bought my first Beth Cummings print in 1984, and another in 1985. I recently found one at a thrift shop that I absolutely love. I am trying to find the title of the piece, and perhaps the value as well. The piece is a signed, numbered print that features a box of crayons, an apple, PTA notice, Elmer's Past, several books and an apple. It also includes marbles, a ruler and other school teacher items. I am a teacher who will be retiring soon and I feel like it was such an incredible blessing to find this print at this particular time in my life. I would so appreciate being referred to anyone who might have a list of Beth Cummings prints/print images beyond the more popular ones I have been seeing when I have done my online searches. Thank you.

Hi There ... although your post is nearly five years ago, I am just seeing it today. I too have a lovely print by B. Cummings called "Sheep in The Garden II" signed in 1985. It is the same artist for sure. Because I am posting it for sale in my ETSY store, I did some research to determine market value. I was able to trace his work to a printer in Albertville, Alabama called Paragon Picture Gallery.
If you are still searching for that image, I would contact them ... 205-878 9080 is the number I have. Good luck.

This certinly looks like Bill Cummings work, and the signature matches. He was my live painting teacher at the art institute in Seattle, where he lived until he passed away in 2010. Theres a wiki if you want to know more... but the wiki doesn't do his personality justice. Either you loved him or you hated him, he was really amazing.

I have been at this for a few hours now and this is the most I have found out about B. Cummings and her folk art. I purchased a signed print of hers, "Old Town America" and wanted to find out more about her Folk Art Paintings. The only picture of it I saw on the internet said no longer available. Mine is number 326 of 1000 and I can't figure out why I don't see it for sale or a value anywhere.

Just read where y'all(her children) are planning on doing a writeup and list of paintings and names. That would be wonderful. I'll definitely keep checking Wikipedia. Thank you.

I have a really sweet print by B. Cummings of three chickens and their chicks. It was probably a water color and is dated '84. I would love to have more and a new one of this one 'cause sun has changed the color. Mine is about postcard size and is copyrighted. Any chicken knowledge on this?

Hi sewingca:
B. Martin Cummings was the nom de plume of Beatrice Louise Martin Cummings, 1932-1990. She was well known in the Sonoma and Marin art communities and was quite a prolific watercolorist. Most of her paintings were of flowers, but she also did many sweet drawings of chickens. Her illustrations can be found in “The Rotten Chicken,” by Tish Solomon, a tale to help women recover from domestic abuse. The book won a Caldecott Medal.
