Is this purely a NC thing?

I'm not sure, grew up in PA. I'd never heard of it before people started asking for it at one of our farmers markets here in Winston-Salem. DH is a native N Carolinian (but from a different area of the state) and didn't know of it either.

Our figs are coming on but we are selling them within about 10 seconds when we get to the farmer's market.  People go crazy for them - about the size of tennis ball this year and so yummy.  We get 50 cents each which is not bad and I don't have all the work of the jam.  But I still want to make some of the jam for us.

I see this thread is a couple years old but I was hopeful someone might be able to say how this recipe turned out.

Bought a house last year and the fig tree in the back produced over 15lbs of fruit! Not knowing what else to do, I canned majority of them and have been SWIMMING in fig strawberry jam this past year. I'd like to can again this year, but need a couple different canning recipes for variety sake.

I'd definitely like to give this one a try!

I was searching for a recipe for Hoppin' Frog jam as I had purchased some at an Amish store and absolutely loved it. Finally found this recipe for frog jam at this site and added jalapeno peppers to it (that's where the hoppin part comes in)droolin.gif and everyone who tries it just has to have more. It is wonderful and delicious. Thank you so much to the person who posted this originally. I had to search for a long time to find it.

A perfect addition to an already tasty jam, I must try that next batch! Thanks for sharing your results.
