I LOVE cruises, especially to the Caribbean. Our first was an 11 day cruise from Miami to San Juan. Spent an extra 3 days in San Juan.
I wasn't fond of Nassau, I liked the "not quite as developed" islands better, like Dominique.
It really depends on what type of things you like to do, we're the nature types. If I remember right St. Maarten has a big butterfly farm. Snorkeling is always good - or diving, if you dive.
We also took a dive on a mini submarine - that was awesome.
Oh - and St. Maarten also has a great outdoor market - depending on what day you're there. Good place to pick up gifts!
