All about Amberlinks!

Pics
I adopted 6 amberlink hens all were pure white barely any brown or reds in her. Huge combs. And I was like Omgoodness they are Roos! Nope all 6 laid eggs the next morning none crow. I was flipping out. But they were never around people or other chickens or allowed to free range before me.

So I let them loose in the back yard and they were super aggressive chasing anything that moved. I felt bad for my original 9 but I thought they have to sort the new pecking order.

They were cute. They tried to chase me and I stood my ground picked them up for the very first time and one cried as I pet her and called her a pretty girl. I made me sad but I knew she would get used to it. Every morning I get 6 eggs from them. My 9 are too young still to lay eggs.

They get along now to a degree. They have weekly arguments about who’s the queen of the coop and I remind them I’m momma and they are all my girls and they settle down but only if it gets ugly out there.

So in short. It does matter how you treat your chicks. But they can evolve into nicer hens. I sing to mine at night when I lock them down. I give them treats in the morning (toss chicken layer feed like it’s special) and when they see me they all come running and clucking and flapping their wings. I was just honestly stunned that when I first got them they were soooooo mean.

Are these guys amberlinks? Or amberlink California white hybrids? I was told they could be amberlink hybrids on my post asking about some of my hens.

Seeking insight from personal experiences with Amberlink hens' life spans and deaths. Specifically for the questions below.

• How long did your hens live?

• Was their deaths caused by only old age, or was illness also a factor?

• Were there any signs or symptoms before their deaths? If yes, how much time were these displayed before their deaths?

***P.S. Please advise if this is not an appropriate thread for this posting. My amberlink hen is roughly 2.5 years old and I'm wanting to best prepare for what may come or what may already be here.***
