when will my silkie lay eggs?

i have a silkie hen who i rescued from a meat market a few months ago so i dont know how old she is.
ive had her for 3 months and when i bought her she seemed about 2 or 3 months old so she is 5 or 6 months old.  i would assume that they were feeding her meat bird feed so im wondering if that would make her start laying eggs later?
and she seems a bit thin even though i have her on free choice chick feed so should i try to fatten her up, and how?

What % protein does the feed have? All of my silkies get 20%

She might never lay, like mine. Don't count on any eggs from a Silkie. sad

I sold off all my birds. I'm getting out of poultry until 2016. We need to rebuild after a massive attack, and we need time to rebuild new pens and beef up security.

She might go broody (sit on other eggs) but never lay any of her own. That's how mine are. sad

I didn't know that some silkies never lay.  My silkie will be a year in August, and she has been laying for about 3 months now.
