predators digging under run door?

Treat the part under the door the same way you do the rest of the run fencing. (Either buried wire, or an apron, or whatever). Ta da

As for how long wire will last underground, it totally depends on the wire gauge, the quality of the galvanizing, what your soil is like, and how wet it is. That is one advantage of an apron rather than buried wire -- you can CHECK it periodically, and replace when needed.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

The entire perimeter of my runs have hardware cloth aprons, even the area in front of doors. To make the door secure, I built a door jamb slightly smaller than the door, and hinged the door so it opens outward. Each door is secured with two spring operated locks, top and bottom. I figure a predator would likely try to push the door inward, and I've given them nothing much other than the door handle to use if they're trying to pull the door outward against the two locks.

I've been wondering this very question that the OP asked. Can anyone post pics of your run door that shows what some of you are describing? I think that would really help!

I bury the long double celled cinder blocks across the threshold long ways down across all my run gate. Turn them so it's solid cement facing out and you're good. My gates come down to about an inch or less from the top of the cinderblock threshhold so nothing larger than a rodent can get in. My friend did a double row of blocks with the back row raised about 2 inches so her door closed against the second row of blocks and not even a rat could get in.
do you have pictures of hers or diagram sovI can understand how to do it?

I have a yield sign...
When I first read that I seriously thought you were going to say that you put up a sign to keep out predators, haha. Kinda like a gun free zone, just put up a sign that says "predators keep out" :)

I'm a couple weeks out from building my run, but my plan was to have a 2X4 at the bottom of the gate that you would have to step over and attach a 1/2" hardware cloth skirt to that.

I figured I would have it open put the wire, a backer board around the whole door, and the blocks since in another thread they commented that walking in and out will lower the area and without a good threshold that will make it a predator target.
Have you done your poop door yet? What did you go with?
