This is my sweet Petunia Puffy Cheeks!

Do any of your Easter Eggers stand up so straight all the time? She reminds me of a quail with her chest all puffed out like that! And she's always doing this silly little head-bobbing dance...I posted a video of it on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkA4mKJGSVI

And
here she is with one of her ducklings she hatched a few months ago (peeking out from behind her)-she was a good mama!

It's a special kind of mutt chicken, one that lays blue green or greenish brown eggs. Some do lay brown eggs but the criteria for an Easter Egger is that its parents laid blue or green eggs, and that it is not a recognized purebred bird like Ameraucanas and Araucanas.

Also, if a hatchery, feedstore, or half the Craigslist people out there sell you "Ameraucanas" or "Araucanas" - They're likely the Easter Egger mutt in reality.

Easter Eggers are a mixed-breed made from crossing Ameraucana with Araucana or by crossing Ameraucana or Araucana with another breed. They should lay blue or green eggs but don't always.

Basically a mutt...but a pretty mutt with puffy cheeks who lays blue eggs
