Poultry Hollow - Brush Creek, TN

I will end up getting some chickens from Poultry Hollow in the next month or two. A friend from church, family members, and friend from work have all bought from them before and recommended them to me.

Not that I really NEED anymore chickens

, but I want to own a few naked necks and they supposedly have that breed.

I hope no one jumps on your case for dredging up this post again. LOL.

I'm now waiting on my Barred Rocks (from Poultry Hollow) to give me eggs. Any day now, cause they're doing the squat and hangin out in their boxes. They are absolutely beautiful healthy birds. I did have some die, because at the time I wasn't aware of Cocci. The owner told us to get medicated feed, but being my first time with chickens I didn't really think it was important. I regret that, and now I know better. I now consider myself an expert on hatching and brooding, as I have read EVERY book I can get my hands on and now have about 80 chickens. What I can say about Poultry Hollow now that my birds are older, and I have others from different sources to compare to, is that Poultry Hollow's BR's and RIR's are beautiful and have great personalities. They're a lot friendlier and calmer than the hatchery ones I've gotten. The two BR's are my favorite out of all my chickens, and well, the RIR was our first completely homemade chicken meal, and it tasted amazing. At the time I didn't understand how she did it, but every single bird she gave us were in fact pullets -no roos. It seems like her sexing of chicks is more accurate than a mail order hatchery. I'm more than happy with my beautiful pullets.

I would like to add that my BRs from her literally lay an egg a day. They skip a day about every two weeks -that's it. By far my best egg layers. They're the only ones who will peck feed right out of my hubby's hands.

I bought my (4) blue cochins from there in May and they are beautiful birds. I have ordered from other hatcheries, just to have everyone of them die within 2 weeks. I feel sorry for the breeder, she was working very hard and all the bedding had just been cleaned, all had feed and water and she had a line of customers, yet she never lost her patience with anyone or the questions that were being asked. The smell goes with the animals, I agree she should do better on the disposal of the dead birds, but I can attest to the fact that one minute the chicks are find and in 10 mins there can be 4 dead.... She sold me healthy and beautiful chicks and now they are growing into my breeding stock.

I bought several birds from Poultry Hollow this week. I don't get what people make a fuss about. The lady had easily over a thousand birds on her farm, so yeah it smelled like chicken poop and there were flies, but like I said, a thousand of birds! The place was not messy and she (Ms. Judy) was extremely helpful.

I ended up buying a barred plymouth rock, 2 transylvanian naked necks (turken), 3 gorgeous silver laced wyandottes, and 2 golden laced polish. I was very pleased with the experience and will definitely buy birds from her in the future. Especially since she's only an hour from Muddy Pond which is convienent for us.

I would like to buy some eggs. My daughter brought me down a couple of dozen from Ky. I live here in Brush Creek. Where can I buy farm fresh eggs? Sharlene 615-489-6991

I made contact with poultry hollow today, actually they contacted me twice ,once by a man second time a woman , Rude and clueless is all I can say about them. I believe they are near Nashville, I couldn't get any info over the phone,I only needed 10 birds it seemed that was not worth their time.I'm staying with Murry Mcmurry hatcheries ,farther away but much more professional and courteous.I live in NW Alabama.
