Moveable fencing??

Was wondering. In most cases the chickens don't fly up and out? I would like to do the same, but wondered if I would have to cover it up. Do you all clip your girls wings to make it work? Steph

Hi Steph,
No, I don't clip my girls wings. I mostly have duel purpose breeds so maybe they are too heavy. I have found one or two girls out a time or to but discovered they had found a place on the uneven ground where they crawled under. Silly girls! I took care of that with a few lengths of cheap plastic deco garden edging.

By the by, that fencing in the pic's is called pocket-net mesh fencing. I Googled it yesterday and you can find it easily on line. You can get 50', 100' and 150' lengths with the 100' averaging $55.00. It can be cut to a shorter length if need be. I love the stuff and plan on using it whenever I need to section off an area for different critters. Good luck.

How do you keep the netting up? I see you have some metals poles. But how did you attach and secure the netting to the poles? We have free ranged our chickens for about a year and today we lost the first one. I think to a fox. I'm so sad! I want to let them have as much free range as they can have but I want to keep them safe. I need something affordable like this. Thanks for sharing.
