for anyone who is having trouble with the web site.

the links to the pages are in the upper right corner.  we need to change the color so they show more.  if you roll your mouse over  the boxes  they turn red then they are easy to read.

we are trying to create the website as soon as possible but life keeps happening.

This is the worst weekend ever in my short time as a crazy chicken lady! My shipment from Ideal didn't show up until 2pm Friday (suppose to be 6am)! One was dead in the box! Since then my death toll is at 12 with another not looking so hot! somad.gif Had a set of 14 of my own due to hatch Friday also! 1 quit fully formed and 10 hatched ok! Then it went bad again! One was all zipped last night and could not seem to push the 2 egg halves apart! Then I noticed the foam! I freaked and pull her out! She is fine now! The 2 that were left went 2 days overdue and started bashing holes all in one spot! I established that they were sticky also so....... I pulled out the first one and washed off as much as I could! Then I went to work on baby number 2! I got her all out and then noticed her leg! One of her legs is missing the half after what would I guess be a knee type joint! And she started growing toes there instead! BUT ONLY 2 and they fold up the wrong way! hit.gifI seriously want to cry right now! I don't know what to do with her because she pipped herself and is very strong aside from the leg and foot issue! This stinks soooooo bad!

P.S. - Sorry for the rant in the wrong section but I don't know any of those Random Ramblings people!!!!!

so sorry for all your losses! hugs.gif

are you keeping or culling the half legged chick? chickens have been known to live with only one functioning leg, she'd probably adapt okay!

I'm sorry to hear all this! It must be very sad for you. :(

What do you supposed caused the foam? And I also wonder, will you cull the one-legged chick or raise it and see what happens?

Very sorry on your run of bad chickie luck. You did not ask for opinions on the deformed chick so please disregard if this is unwanted. For the last few years I have hatched well over 300 chicks. Statisticly when you hatch that many you get a few odd things happening. I have never had one hatch with half a leg but I have had leg deformities. The best advice I can give you is that you have to let nature decide if this chick has what it takes to live. Do not do any thing for her that you are not willing to do everyday for the rest of her life. If she can not thrive and begins to suffer then it will be a loving responsibility to end her suffering. I know some will disagree with me so please take this as my .2 cents. If I can help I am willing to share all I can.

Thanks for listening everybody! We were gonna try cuz I can't brng myself to cull yet! We were just gonna keep her as a handi-chic and maybe an inside pet and see if she made it through! She seemed really strong! Unfortunately she did not make it through the night! Pretty bummed to find her this morning!
