CHICKEN SWAPS OF NH SWAP LISTINGS - Page 319

lol~ Yes, I just had 2 egg sandwiches for free, ( almost ). The boys are beautiful. . The down side to the last 2 Roo's is I paid the price for Hens & they turned into Roo's.  Those 2 are Olive egger & the other is an amaurcana (sp) X Cochan. I have 2 Maran Roos & 2 bantam Roos. They really do well together.

the rooster roundup is fairly new for us.  we have no set time frame as to when we will have another one.

It sort of depends on how often we hear "I have a rooster that I don't want and I don't know what to do with it."

The rooman will not take babies, they have to be half grown. I am not positive but I don't think he will take silkies.

We are as always a work in progress. each year department of agriculture rules change as well as market conditions.  everything is subject to change.  it is good that you ask questions.  quite often what we did last year or the year before is very different from the way things are done now.  but isn't that true of everything in life.  I still remember when gas was thirty cents a gallon.  now an egg salad sandwich at a gas station costs four dollars.  he.gif

LL

I bought this little cochin lady at a swap.  she is so sweet and one of my best broodies.  anyone have any idea what color she is?  I thought she would look good frizzled but she is broody so often I hardly ever get any eggs from her.  last year she kicked 2 runner ducks out of their nest box so she could hatch their eggs.

I just can't pay the price for egg salad in stores when I know the eggs I have at home taste better. so cake and ice cream it is.   hide.gif

I think all of us have bought hens that turned into roos.  It stinks to loose what you paid for them but it also stinks to keep paying for feed if you have no use for them.  If I give up a roo I always treat myself to a new hen so that I can look at the overall picture and think I miss him but now I have more eggs and I will have more jumpy.gif which are a whole lot of fun.

of course then I need cake and ice cream to make me feel better.  woot.gif

Well, maybe I need cake & ice & close my eye to the Roo's . I'll keep my Banty Roo's, they usually don't bother the large hens. I just dislike seeing my girls loosing feathers because of the Roo's .I'd like another Buff Brahma, I love the girl I got from you last yr @ Merideth swap. Also Looking for some full size Easter egger pullets. waiting til the weather warms up.I dislike the dander in the house, had an issue 2 yrs ago because of breathing it in .
