Look for a single black feather in the tail. Most of my roos have this, & is said , a roo with a single black feather in his tail is preferred by SQ breeders to throw the best color.

Sorry, on the Yokies, not the Phoenix mix.

The Yokies don't throw any black color, except in the tail. I have 1 roo that has 2 black tail feathers. Out of the hundred or so I've hatched, only 1 chick came out looking different. It was a pale chipmunk color on it's back, & white underneath.

I've never thrown any black except the tail. I have 1 roo that has 2 black feathers, & that's the most black I've ever had thrown. Out of the hundred or so eggs I've hatched, I did have 1 wierd throw off. After 3 years of hatching, I came up with this pale chipmunk color on ones back. It's breast was white. Where in the world did this come from?
