I have ALL mutts, so it would not matter, and don't want any roos. I don;t have an avenue to rehoming those. The auto sexing would sure be only way for me, especially if I would get that 288 capacity unit.
BTW my Japanese bantam Efiteris is in chicken heaven. Suspect old age, since I bought her used.
Oh no, so sorry to hear that. At least she had a good long life.
That is the thing about the auto sexing, what do you do with all the roos? Everyone wants the pullets, but then you have all the cockerels. I still have my splash roo that was picked on so bad by one of my hens that I rehomed. Once she drew blood on his leg, she just kept on pecking until I found him. He has a bad limp, stays in the coop, doesn't crow. I can't sell him, and won't butcher him. So he eats and hangs out in the coop and will be there until he goes on his own. Unfortunately, I can't do that with all the roos.
