Got a ribbon as best in class at a class. As I have to compete with more established breeds and colours, there were a number of birds in AOV . As we showers know it is hard for a blue to compete against other colours etc. So I must be doing something right.

I still think the tail is too long.

Five years ago when I started back into the world of poultry I was looking for LF blue rocks.  None!  I stumbled across this thread and read it all the way through tonight.  I found it very helpful as I am working on LF Black and Blue Orpingtons, because, no blue rocks!  I am also looking for Bantam black Plymouth Rocks and they are also very hard to find.  Breaking out my new ABA yearbook tomorrow!  Enjoyed the genetics refresher of sexlinked traits,  lacing, legs, and some history.  Pictures were great and I wanted to ask where everyone went in 2015?  Also to tell Findtex great job and sometimes we just have to get our birds out there even if we are still working on them.  emenheiser I would like to see a front view of that Andalusian line female and maybe an over the top view also to see her width and depth.  Or if you have another generation to show???  Enjoyed my reading!

40 feedstore mixed flock layers, including 7 of last fall's unauthorized chicks, 11 SQ LF Black Orps, herd of 11 Maine-Anjou, Shorthorn, and Saler cattle, four cats, and one lazy, loud red healer!

Hatching/adding to my LF Black Orps, and some blues/splashes too. Working on self-blue project Orps & Speckled Sussex. Thinking about trying Diamond Jubilee Orps. Show season complete, points earned!!!

Results from nationals. The Judge, who I think is pretty good in OZ, said "nice bird" to the one I posted above. I think the tail is too long but he said the foundation are there.

They are around.  I have blue and black rocks but since I don't have a roo am working with some project cocks to see if I can create a solid cockerel.

I ditched the Andalusian line. Put simply, I didn't have the right birds at the time I made the Andalusian cross, and wasn't going to be able to select past the number of flaws coming from both sides. I decided to continue focus on type in my original line for a few more years, before repeating the Andalusian cross. This year has been busy with property searches and one final move, so I only hatched about 20. I did get one May cockerel that, despite his color issues, has the size, length, feather width, and many of the other pieces I need. Here are a couple of pictures of him. He's covered in pin feathers, and clearly has a lot of maturing left to do.

I need a pen..... Maybe I can find some space soon.  I have a blue single barred cockerel that I am going to test mate and see what I get.  He came from another project pen for my Silver penciled.... no idea why he is barred but it works for making some solid rocks.  I have blue and black and split hens.  I will maybe mate up a quad (one of each color) and test mate with them.
