week old baby chick dying?

My baby chicks have been pretty active, healthy, eating, drinking...I check on them all the time. Just now I went into the room and saw one chick laying down looking dead..I tap the cage like I always do when I see the chicks lay down sleeping but think omg they died! And he didn't move. I picked him up and he started chirping like crazy but with his eyes closed.

His breathing is really slow and he lays his head down in my hand turned sideways like he is dead. I touch his back with my finger and he softly chirps, but doesn't open eyes. My guy said he saw him laying there in the corner by himself earlier too. I tried to get him to stand, but he just droops his head down and acts like he is so tired. I dipped his beak in water and he became alert then, but didn't drink and went right back to drooping head and staggering.

He was fine today and now is like this? What could the problem be? All chicks are on medicated feed and were doing great up until now. Heat lamp is on them and all the others are running around eating and drinking and pecking at stuff...

I sat with a chick three days to help him hatch and ever since he hatched he's been doing as you said he is deformed his legs and his butt are to big but he has the biggest heart out of all of them he loves me and I love him

Had a chick hatch at noon today was doing great left in bator to dry. Up moving chirping looks good check on him and was fine 30 mins later he was gone, what did I do wrong? I am so upset over losing him. This has never happened to me before.

Wanted to let you know that if your using an incorrect bulb it can also release toxic fumes, that WILL kill your chicks. Be sure to get an appropriate bulb from tractor supply or farm store. I’m sure most know, that keeping a check on and cleaning as neccesary it’s little duct at its butt can prevent deaths, use a warm dampened paper towel, Kleenex or soft cloth, being sure to do it gently. You don’t want to cause trauma or excess stress to your chick. Also it only takes a small level of toxins to kill your chicks, such as fumes from Teflon, cigarette smoke, febreeze, bleach, just using these products in a room near them can cause them to die. Always quarantine your sick baby’s Incase it is a disease, you don’t want it to make the rest of your flock sick. A small amount of Gatorade(I use single packets) and use 1 and 1/2 as much water, it can improve your chick by providing electrolytes, this can also be done for grown chickens in the normal waterer to rehydrate if they have been in the cold or outside heat to long. Do not do it daily with grown chickens limit to once weekly. For the sick baby I currently have I’m using the Gatorade method and have kept her alive going on day 5 since being on death bed, not sure she will make it but I’m trying. Also hand warmers the throw away kind work great for the extra heat for sick ones

I've been raising chicks for a while. Just started last month some chicks have been dying. What I've noticed is they seem to stay small, not growing like the hatch mates, and then just lay around. This is new to me. Any suggestions?
